The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is Tanzania's largest and oldest public university. It is located in the Ubungo District, Dar es Salaam Region, Tanzania. UDSM was established in 1961 as an affiliate college of the University of London. In 1963, it became a Constituent College of the University of East Africa. In 1970, it was established as a National University through the University of Dar es Salaam Act number 12 of 1970.
Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is a public university in Tanzania's Dar es Salaam Region. It was founded in 1963 as a medical school and is accredited by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). MUHAS's mission is to provide quality research, training, and services in health-related fields. MUHAS has a long-standing collaboration with the Harvard Chan School on public health research and training.
The University of Dodoma is a public university located in Dodoma, the country's capital in central Tanzania. Building is taking place on a 6,000-hectare site in the Chimwaga area about 8 kilometres east of downtown Dodoma. Ardhi University (ARU) is a public university in Tanzania that offers integrated training in land-based disciplines. The university was established in 2007 and is located in Kinondoni District, Dar es Salaam. ARU It is situated on Observation Hill close to University of Dar es Salaam, in which it was a constituent college from 1996 to 2007, when it was known as University College of Lands and Architectural Studies UCLAS. Prior being part of University of Dar es Salaam, Ardhi University was known as Ardhi Institute with history extending to mid-1950s.
